Kevin and Sonny showed us around. Did I mention Kevin is also a pro racecar driver and team owner?? Pretty cool, right? And he loves wine! Kevin and his wife Debra established the winery in 1999. They don’t own any vineyards, but in fact pick and choose what they consider the elite regions of Sonoma and Napa to buy their fruit from. They pride themselves in their attention to detail to bring out the best in each vineyard’s terroir to make the best hand crafted wine. Have I mentioned how annoyed I was that I couldn’t enjoy the wine??? Sigh.
Their wines have won several wine accolades and medals for being a somewhat new kid on the block. Recently, they were invited to participate in the prestigious Wine Spectator New York Wine Experience, and their wines have been getting some pretty high scores from Wine Spectator's James Laube. They have created quite the buzz in the wine community, so they’re doing something right, no doubt about that!
Adobe Road also has a new, public tasting room, which is temporarily located in the heart of Historic Downtown Petaluma. This will be Adobe Road's home while construction is taking place on a new headquarters, that is just around the corner facility on the Petaluma River Front. This new 15,000 sq foot property will house such things as the winery and production, tasting room, and even a motorsports museum. It looks ridiculously cool, and if the plans and the tasting room we saw are any indication, it will be off the charts! I can’t wait to go back with a fresh palate and

I did, however, really enjoy looking at all of the cool racing stuff they had, including a whole garage of racing cars! Michael even got to take a picture in one of the cars, and then it was through the speakeasy style door that led us into the tasting room that I mentioned… yep as cool as you would expect a speakeasy tasting room to be!
Adobe Road-
What do racing cars and award winning wine have in common?? More than you might think! We stumbled upon Adobe Road indirectly via one of Michael's childhood friends. She had discovered our Wine Problems Facebook page, and reached out to us to recommend Adobe Road, where her boyfriend, Sonny Martin, is the Director of Hospitality. Knowing that Michael was also into cars, she recommended that we ask Sonny to meet us at Adobe Road's private tasting room, because it is located in the confines of an auto racing shop (more on this later)!
We met Sonny, and one of Adobe Road's owners, Kevin Buckler, at this speakeasy style tasting room, after an admittedly long day of wine tasting. Now, this girl loves her wine, don’t ever doubt that for a minute! However, what I discovered about myself on this particular winecation, is that there is such a thing of being “wined out” for me. Who knew?!?! Hence, my palate was unfortunately so blown out when we went to visit, I couldn’t enjoy the wines as much as I would
really be able to taste their wines. Finally!
